Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2003 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the gasket.
  2. Install the booster assembly.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the 4 booster to bulkhead nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

  5. Install the stop lamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  6. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement (Vacuum Boost)  or Master Cylinder Replacement (Hydraulic Boost) .
  7. Connect the return hose, the steering gear, and the inlet hoses.
  8. Bleed the hydraulic booster system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System in Power Steering System.
  9. Release the park brake and unblock the wheels.
