Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2003 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the park brake shoe to the backing plate.
  2. Install the wheel bearing. Refer to Wheel Hub and Bearing Replacement in Rear Wheel Steering.
  3. Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment  in Park Brake.

  4. Install the park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever.
    5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the rear park brake bracket bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 61 N.m (45 lb ft).

  6. Install the park brake cable to the equalizer bar.

  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
