Removal Procedure

- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the rack and pinion boot from the steering gear. Refer to Rack and Pinion Boot Replacement .
- Using the J 44665-1 (1) and J 44665-2 (2) to remove the inner tie rod support clamp.
- Remove the inner tie rod (1) from the steering gear using the J 44665-2 (2).
NOTE:
Refer to Rear Wheel Steering Lifting and Jacking Notice in Cautions and Notices.
IMPORTANT:
The inner tie rod support clamp has right hand threads. The inner tie rod support nut has left hand threads. To remove the support clamp turn the clamp counterclockwise.
