Conditions for Clearing the DTC

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Power Outlets? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Power Outlets

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Place the auxiliary power outlet (APO) switch in the normal or continuous mode.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Auxiliary Power Outlets Switch parameter in the data list for the hybrid control module (HCM).
Does the scan tool display ON?
Go to Step 3  Go to Step 4

  1. Place the APO switch in the OFF mode.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the APO Switch Status parameter.
Does the APO Switch Status parameter display OFF?
Go toTesting for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the APO switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the APO Switch Status parameter.
Does the scan tool display OFF?
Go to Step 7  Go to Step 5 
5 Test the signal circuit of the APO switch for a open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 6 
6 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the HCM. Refer toConnector Repairs and Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 8 
7 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the APO switch. Refer to Connector Repairs and Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 9

IMPORTANT: Always perform the setup procedure for the HCM.
  1. Replace the HCM. Refer to Hybrid Control Module (HCM) Replacement (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2) in Engine Electrical.
  2. Perform the setup procedure for the HCM.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 10  -
9 Replace the APO switch. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 10  -

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
Does the DTC reset?
Go to Step 2  System OK
