Extension Housing Assembly (4L60-E): Installation

  1. Install a new case extension O- ring seal. Install the case extension.
  2. Install the case extension bolts. See Fig 1. Tighten the case extension bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the transmission mount.
  3. Install the propeller shaft. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate DRIVE SHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVE AXLES. Remove the drain pan and the transmission jack. Lower the vehicle. Fill transmission with appropriate fluid to proper level. See LUBRICATION .
