Parking Pawl (4T80-E): Removal

Remove the lower valve assembly. See LOWER CONTROL VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY (4T80-E) . Remove the parking gear. See PARKING GEAR (4T80-E) . Move the manual shaft from the Park position. Drive out the parking pawl pivot pin using a pin punch. See Fig 1 . Push down on the spring while driving the pin out. Remove the parking pawl and the spring. Inspect the following:
- Parking pawl tooth for damage.
- Parking pawl spring for over expansion.
- Pivot pin for scorning, excessive wear.
