Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe (4T80-E): Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Remove the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe retaining bolt from the fan shroud. Slide the plastic cap off the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fitting.
  2. Disconnect the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe from the radiator using the Cooler Quick Connect Tool (J-41623-B). See Fig 1 . Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the rear exhaust manifold pipe in order to gain access to the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe fitting.
  3. Disconnect the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe from the rear of the transaxle. See Fig 2 . If equipped with a threaded fitting, perform the following:
    • Hold the transaxle oil cooler pipe adapter in order to prevent the adapter from turning.
    • Loosen and disconnect the transaxle oil cooler pipe from the oil cooler pipe adapter.
  4. If equipped with a quick connect fitting, perform the following:
    • Slide the plastic cap off the transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fitting.
    • Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler pipe from the transaxle using the cooler quick connect tool.
  5. Remove the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe from the vehicle. Lower the vehicle. Disconnect the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe fitting from the radiator. See Fig 3 .
  6. Disconnect the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe from the front of the transaxle. See Fig 4 .
  7. If equipped with a threaded fitting, perform the following:
    • Hold the transaxle oil cooler pipe adapter in order to prevent the adapter from turning.
    • Loosen and disconnect the transaxle oil cooler pipe from the oil cooler pipe adapter.
  8. If equipped with a quick connect fitting, perform the following:
    • Slide the plastic cap off the transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fitting.
    • Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler pipe from the transaxle using the cooler quick connect tool.
  9. Remove the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe from the vehicle.
