Speed Sensors: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Sierra and 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Do not rotate the sensor in its retaining bracket. Changing the sensor/bracket orientation may cause improper operation.
  1. Install a new a O-ring (3) on the speed sensor (2). Lubricate the O-ring with clean transmission fluid. See Fig 1 .
  2. Install the new speed sensor (2) into the speed sensor bore. See Fig 1 . Align the hole in the retaining bracket with the bolt hole in the speed sensor boss.
  3. Install the speed sensor bolt and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Reconnect the external wiring harness to the speed sensor.
