WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Avoid area near steering wheel and instrument panel even if air bags have deployed. Dual-stage air bag modules may be present that could contain an undeployed stage. When disposing of a deployed dual-stage air bag, always treat it as a "live" module. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Replace After Deployment Inspect & If Damaged Replace Component (Even If Air Bag Did Not Deploy) Comments
Deployed air bag modules; Air bag sensor unit; Clockspring; Impact sensors & sensors mountings; Steering column; Steering wheel; Wiring harness; Seat belts & mounting points; DO NOT attempt wiring harness repairs. Replace entire wiring harness.; Impact sensors must always be installed with arrow on sensor facing front of vehicle.;
Mazda-2

Replace After Deployment Inspect & If Damaged Replace Component (Even If Air Bag Did Not Deploy) Comments
Deployed air bag modules; Air bag diagnosis control unit; Clockspring; Impact sensors & sensors mountings; Steering column; Steering wheel; Wiring harness; Seat belts & mounting points; DO NOT attempt wiring harness repairs. Replace entire wiring harness.; Impact sensors must always be installed with arrow on sensor facing front of vehicle.;
Mazda-3

Replace After Deployment Inspect & If Damaged Replace Component (Even If Air Bag Did Not Deploy) Comments
Deployed air bag modules; Air bag diagnosis control unit; Seat belts(1); Deployed seat belt pretensioners (if equipped); Clockspring; Front impact sensor(2); Steering column; Steering wheel; Wiring harness; Seat belts & mounting points; DO NOT attempt wiring harness repairs. Replace entire wiring harness.;
(1) On Pickup, all seat belt assemblies should be replaced unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Seat Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected and replaced, if either damage or improper operation is noted.
(2) 2001 Miata only.
Mazda-4

Replace After Deployment Inspect & If Damaged Replace Component (Even If Air Bag Did Not Deploy) Comments
Deployed air bag modules; Air bag diagnosis control unit; Side air bag sensor; Seat back frame, pad & trim (if side air bag has deployed); Deployed seat belt pretensioners(1); Seat belts(2); Clockspring; Steering column; Steering wheel; Wiring harness; Seat belts & mounting points; Seat back & frame; DO NOT attempt wiring harness repairs. Replace entire wiring harness.;
(1) If equipped.
(2) On Tribute, all seat belt assemblies should be replaced unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Seat Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected and replaced, if either damage or improper operation is noted.

Deployed air bag modules; Front crash sensor (crash zone sensor); Air bag diagnosis control unit (SAS control module); Side crash sensor (side air bag sensor)(1); Seat back frame, pad & trim(1); Deployed seat belt pretensioners(2); Passenger seat & seat weight sensor(3); Clockspring; Steering column; Steering wheel; Wiring harness; Seat belts & mounting points; Seat back & frame; DO NOT attempt wiring harness repairs. Replace entire wiring harness.;
(1) If side air bag has deployed.
(2) If equipped.
(3) If equipped with seat weight sensor and side and-or front air bags have deployed.
