WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Avoid area near steering wheel and instrument panel even if air bags have deployed. Dual-stage air bag modules may be present that could contain an undeployed stage. When disposing of a deployed dual-stage air bag, always treat it as a "live" module. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Replace After Deployment Inspect & If Damaged Replace Component (Even If Air Bag Did Not Deploy) Comments
Air bag diagnosis control unit(1); Deployed air bag modules; Impact bracket(2); Deployed seat belt pretensioners(3); Supplemental Restraint System Control Module (SRSCM)(4); Air bag diagnosis control unit; Clockspring; Impact sensors & sensor mountings(5); Side impact sensors(3); Steering column; Steering wheel; Instrument panel; Wiring harness; Seat belts & mounting points; Impact bracket(2); After repairs are completed, ensure AIR BAG warning light is functioning properly.;
(1) 2001-02 Optima & Magentis (Canadian), 2002 Sedona.
(2) 1998-02 Sportage. Impact bracket located between front bumper and frame mounted energy absorber. Failure to replace could allow air bags to deploy at less than 8 MPH.
(3) If equipped.
(4) 2004 Amanti. SRSCM must be replaced following one air bag module deployment or after 5 seat belt pretensioner deployments.
(5) 1995 1-2 Sephia only.
