WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Avoid area near steering wheel and instrument panel even if air bags have deployed. Dual-stage air bag modules may be present that could contain an undeployed stage. When disposing of a deployed dual-stage air bag, always treat it as a "live" module. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Replace After Deployment Inspect & If Damaged Replace Component (Even If Air Bag Did Not Deploy) Comments
Deployed air bag modules; Sensors in area of accident damage; Instrument panel braces; Instrument panel steering column reinforcement plate; Knee bolster; Seat belts & mounting points; Sensors in area of accident damage; SRS coil assembly; Steering column; Any sensor that the Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) indicates as bad must be replaced.; If any components are damaged or bent, they must be replaced.; SRS wiring can be repaired following manufacturer's instructions.;

Deployed air bag modules; Sensing & Diagnostic Module (SDM); Instrument panel braces; Instrument panel steering column reinforcement plate; Knee bolster & mounting points; Seat belts & mounting points; SRS coil assembly; Passenger-side air bag door(1); Steering column; Wiring harnesses; If any components are damaged or bent, they must be replaced.; DO NOT attempt wiring harness repairs. Replace harness.;

Deployed air bag modules; Deployed seat belt pretensioners (if equipped); SRS control unit; Cable reel; Dash sensors (1991-94); Seat belts & mounting points; SRS control unit; SRS wiring harnesses; If any components are damaged or bent, they must be replaced.; DO NOT attempt SRS wiring repairs. If SRS wiring or harness connectors are faulty, replace faulty wiring harness.; After vehicle is repaired, ensure AIR BAG warning light is functioning properly.;

If SRS wiring or harness connectors are faulty, replace faulty wiring harness.;
(1) Following frontal air bag deployment
(2) Following deployment of side impact air bag module, on side of impact.
