Installation Procedure

Apply a 5 mm (0.193 in) diameter bead of GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or equivalent to the oil pan side sealing flanges.

Apply GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or equivalent to the oil pan surface that contacts the engine front cover.

Install a new oil pan rear seal. Apply a small amount of GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or equivalent to the oil pan rear seal ears.

Install the oil pan.

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
Install the oil pan nuts.
Tighten

Tighten the oil pan nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Install the oil pan bolts.
Tighten

Tighten the oil pan bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Remove the engine from the engine stand.
Install the engine into the vehicle. Refer to ENGINE REPLACEMENT .
