Engine Flywheel Installation

  1. Install the flywheel.
  2. Install the flywheel spacer, if a flywheel spacer is used.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

    Important:  You must thoroughly remove the old thread adhesive from the flywheel bolts and bolt holes. Use a round nylon bristle brush in order to remove the old adhesive.

    Apply GM P/N United States 12345493, GM P/N Canada 10953488, or equivalent, to all flywheel bolts. Carefully follow the instructions that are included with the thread locking compound in order to ensure that the bolts are retained properly.

  3. Install the flywheel bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the flywheel bolts to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
