Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the headrest from the rear seat. Refer to HEAD RESTRAINT REPLACEMENT - REAR SEAT  .
  2. Place the rear seat back to the full upright position.
  3. Remove the J-hook retainer at the bottom of the seat back cover.
  4. Remove the rear seat cover to enlarge the opening for access to the rear seat frame.

    Important:  The use of a small flat bladed tool as a lever under the top of the retainer will help in the removal of the headrest retainer.

  5. Reach carefully inside the rear seat back between the seat back cover and the seat back pad and squeeze the bottom of the headrest retainer together, while pulling the headrest retainer upwards from the seat back frame.
  6. Remove the headrest retainer from the rear seat back frame.
