Engine Coolant Temperature Gage
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The IPC displays the engine coolant temperature as determined by the powertrain control module (PCM). The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the engine coolant temperature (ECT). The range on the engine coolant temperature gage is between 60°C (140°F) and 125°C (260°F). The engine coolant temperature gage defaults to 60°C (140°F) or below if the PCM detects a malfunction in the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit.
