Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the rocker arm cover. Refer to VALVE ROCKER ARM COVER REPLACEMENT - LEFT  or VALVE ROCKER ARM COVER REPLACEMENT - RIGHT  .

    Important:  Place the rocker arms, push rods, and pivot support, in a rack so that they can be installed in the same location from which they were removed.

  2. Remove the rocker arm bolts.
  3. Remove the rocker arms.

  4. Remove the rocker arm pivot support.

  5. Remove the push rods.
  6. If required, clean and inspect the rocker arms and pushrod. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rods Cleaning and Inspection  .
