Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important: 

  1. Install the spacer, if applicable, onto the rear of the crankshaft.

  2. Install the flywheel and bolts to the crankshaft.

    Important:  Longer flywheel bolts must be used on applications using a flywheel spacer.

  3. Apply threadlock GM P/N 12345382, (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the threads of the flywheel bolts.

  4. Tighten the flywheel bolts.

    Tighten 

    1. 4.1. Tighten the bolts a first pass in sequence to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
    2. 4.2. Tighten the bolts a second pass in sequence to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
    3. 4.3. Tighten the bolts a final pass in sequence to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
  5. Install the automatic transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E or TRANSMISSION in Automatic Transmission - 4L80-E.
