Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Attach the steering column support assembly (2) to the steering column jacket assembly (3) with 4 new TORX® head screws (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  2. Install the steering shaft assembly (1) into the steering column support assembly (2) and the steering column jacket assembly (3).

  3. Install the adapter and bearing assembly (1) onto the steering column jacket assembly.
    1. Align the tab on the adapter and bearing assembly (1) with the slot in the steering column jacket assembly.
    2. Push the adapter and bearing assembly (1) onto the steering shaft assembly until the tab snaps into the slot.
  4. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly. Refer to MULTIFUNCTION, TURN SIGNAL SWITCH REPLACEMENT  .
  5. Install the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER CASE REPLACEMENT (FLOOR SHIFT)  or IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER CASE REPLACEMENT (COLUMN SHIFT)  .
  6. Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT  .

  7. Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT  .
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to ZONE 3 in SIR.
