Disabling System (Blackwood)

  1. Record radio preset frequencies for reprogramming (if equipped). Move and tilt front seats to their highest and rearmost position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. Remove driver air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to clockspring connector at top of steering column (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  3. Remove oval-shaped relay cover from passenger side of instrument panel. See Figure. Disconnect passenger side air bag module electrical connector. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to vehicle harness (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  4. Disconnect passenger seat side air bag connector located under passenger seat. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to vehicle harness (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . Repeat procedure for driver side.
  5. Remove passenger side "B" pillar trim panel. Disconnect passenger side safety belt retractor pretensioner connector. Connect appropriate simulator to vehicle harness (in place of safety belt retractor pretensioner). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . Repeat procedure for driver side safety belt retractor pretensioner. Connect negative battery cable.
