Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise the window.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE REAR DOOR (TAHOE/YUKON/ESCALADE)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE REAR DOOR (SUBURBAN/YUKON XL/AVALANCHE/ESCLD EXT)  .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (TAHOE/YUKON/ESCALADE)  or WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (SUBURBAN/YUKON XL/AVALANCHE/ESCLD EXT)  .
  4. Disconnect the inside door lock rod from the handle retainer clip.

  6. Disconnect the manual door lock rod from the door retainer clips.

  8. Remove the rubber plug in order to disengage the outside handle rod retainer.

  10. Disconnect the cylinder lock rod (1).
  11. Remove the bolts (2) which retain the door lock actuator to the door.
  12. Remove the door lock actuator and control rods as an assembly.
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector from the door lock actuator, if equipped.
  14. Remove the control rods as necessary.
