Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important  : Use the tape for protection and alignment marks for alignment of the new emblem.

  1. Apply tape to the area around the pickup cab emblem.
  2. Heat the emblem/nameplate, using a heat gun J 25070  152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface.

  4. Apply the heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
    NOTE: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.
  5. Remove the emblem/nameplate from the pickup cab surface using a plastic, flat-bladed tool.
  6. Remove all adhesive from the pickup cab panel surface and the back of the emblem/nameplate using 3M™ scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  7. Clean the pickup cab surface using varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha.
