Disabling System (Impala & Monte Carlo)

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove key from ignition switch.
  2. Remove SDM fuse from fuse block at far left end of instrument panel. Fuse block is under access cover. Wait 10 minutes.
  3. Remove access hole cover from far right end of instrument panel. Unclip front air bag Yellow 4-pin connector from metal rail. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and disconnect Yellow 4-pin air bag connector.
  4. Move driver's seat as far back as possible. Remove CPA clip and disconnect the driver side air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector, if equipped. Connector is located under driver's seat.
