  1. Record radio preset frequencies for reprogramming, if equipped. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least 1 minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. Remove driver air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to clockspring connector at top of steering column, in place of air bag. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  3. Open glove box. Push in on the 2 glove box door tab and rotate glove box down. Disconnect passenger air bag module connector. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to vehicle harness connector, in place of air bag. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  4. CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with side air bags and seat belt pretensioners, manufacturer recommends removing front seats from vehicle before performing any diagnostics or repairs to air bag or seat belt pretensioner system. For diagnostics on systems other than side air bags or seat belt pretensioners, seats may be left in vehicle as long as simulator tool is installed in place of side air bag and seat belt pretensioner harness.
  5. Working under driver's seat, disconnect side air bag module electrical connector. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to vehicle harness connector, in place of air bag. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . Repeat procedure for passenger side air bag module. Connect negative battery cable.
