Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove the transfer case assembly. Refer to Transfer Case Assembly Replacement .

  4. Use a suitable transmission jack stand to support the transmission.
  5. Remove the transfer case mounting bolts.

  7. Remove the transfer case adapter.

    Important:  Use caution when removing the gasket from the transfer case. The transfer case is made out of Magnesium and will damaged easily.

  8. Remove the gasket from the transfer case.

  9. Remove the seal from the transfer case adapter.
