Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel.
  3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to FRONT BRAKE ROTOR .
  4. Remove the wheel drive shaft nut and the washer.

  5. Disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing.
    1. 5.1. Place a brass drift against the outer end of the wheel drive shaft in order to protect the wheel driveshaft threads.
    2. 5.2. Sharply strike the brass drift with a hammer. Do not attempt to remove the wheel drive shaft from the hub and bearing at this time.

  6. Remove the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolts.

  7. Remove the splash shield.
  8. Remove the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt from the wheel hub and bearing.
  9. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the wheel hub and bearing.

  10. Remove the wheel hub and bearing.
