Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel.
  3. Remove the idler arm mounting bolts.
  4. Disconnect the idler arms from the frame. Move the steering linkage to gain access to the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts.
  5. Remove the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (RWD)  or Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (AWD)  .

  6. Remove the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolt and the nut (left hand).

  7. Remove the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts (right hand).
  8. Remove the stabilizer shaft brackets.
  9. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators from the stabilizer shaft.
  10. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
  11. Inspect all of the parts for wear and damage.
