Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement  .
  3. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement - On Vehicle  .
  4. Remove the lower steering column trim cover mounting screws (1).

  5. Remove the lower steering column trim cover from the upper steering column trim cover.
    1. Tilt the lower steering column trim cover down.
    2. Slide the lower steering column trim cover backward in order to disengage the locking tabs.
  6. Remove the trim cover protector (1) from the lower steering column trim cover (2).

  7. Remove the upper steering column trim cover mounting screws (1).
  8. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle  .
  9. Remove the upper steering column trim cover (2) from the steering column.
