Installation Procedure

- Install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear shaft.
- Install the intermediate shaft to steering gear pinch bolt. Tighten the intermediate shaft to steering gear pinch bolt to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).
- Install the intermediate shaft boot over the intermediate shaft. Do not secure the boot to the steering gear.
- Install the intermediate shaft (2) to the steering column shaft (1).
- Install the intermediate shaft to steering column pinch bolt (3). Tighten the intermediate shaft to steering column pinch bolt to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).
- Measure the intermediate shaft angle. The angle must be 38-40 degrees.
- Install the intermediate shaft boot to the steering gear. Tighten the intermediate shaft boot to cowl mounting bolts to 2.8 N.m (25 lb in).
- Install the intermediate shaft boot to cowl mounting bolts.
- Install the underhood electrical center to cowl.
- Install the underhood electrical center a mounting bolts. Tighten the underhood electrical center mounting bolts to 5.5 N.m (4 lb ft).
- Unlock the steering column by removing the J 42640 from the steering column trim cover.
