Installation Procedure

- Install the steering gear to the vehicle.
- Install the steering gear washers and bolts. Tighten the power steering gear bolts to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
- Install the pitman arm to the steering gear. Refer PITMAN ARM REPLACEMENT (RWD) or PITMAN ARM REPLACEMENT (AWD) .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the power steering cooler pipe to the steering gear. Tighten the power steering cooler pipe fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Connect the power brake booster outlet hose to the steering gear. Tighten the power brake booster outlet fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Connect the intermediate shaft to the power steering gear.
- Install the intermediate shaft pinch bolt to the intermediate shaft coupling. Tighten the intermediate shaft pinch bolt to the intermediate shaft coupling to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).
- Install the lower fan shroud.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding Power Steering System .
