Camshaft Removal

  1. Remove the camshaft position sensor and sensor bolt.

  2. Remove the camshaft thrust plate screws.
  3. Remove the camshaft thrust plate.

    CAUTION: All camshaft journals are the same diameter, so care must be used in removing or installing the camshaft to avoid damage to the camshaft bearings.
  4. Complete the following steps in order to remove the camshaft:
    1. 4.1. Install a large screwdriver in the camshaft bolt hole. Do not damage the threads.
    2. 4.2. Carefully rotate and pull the camshaft out of the camshaft bearings.
