Test Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Savana and 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedure.

  1. 4

This step will determine if the PCM is capable of controlling the AIR pump relay.
  2. 5

This step will determine if the AIR system is functioning correctly.
  3. 16

The engine must be running for this test to ensure a vacuum supply to the AIR system.
  4. 25

This step tests for a short to voltage on the control circuit.
  5. 29

An open fuse for the battery feed circuit could be caused by a short to ground in the components operated by the relay. Inspect the wiring in the circuits on the switched side of the relay. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  6. 30

This step determines if the AIR pump is capable of producing airflow.
