Installation Procedure

- Install the outer (1) then the inner (2) bumper brace to the frame and bumper.
- Align the inner bumper brace with the marks made prior to removal.CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the inner bumper brace retaining bolts to the bumper.
Tighten
Tighten the inner bumper brace retaining bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the outer bumper brace retaining nuts and bolts (6) to the bumper.
Tighten
Tighten the outer bumper brace retaining nuts and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the outer bumper brace nuts (8) and stud plate (7) to the frame.
Tighten
Tighten the outer bumper brace nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the rear bumper to the vehicle. Refer to Impact Bar Replacement - Rear Bumper .
- Install the rear bumper step pad to the bumper. Refer to Step Pad Replacement - Rear Bumper .
- Lower the vehicle.
