Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the oil level indicator tube does not come in contact with spark plug wires. Route the spark plug wires around the oil level indicator tube.

  1. Install the NEW O-ring seal onto the oil level indicator tube.
  2. Install the oil level indicator tube into the oil pan.
  3. Install the oil level indicator tube bracket to the exhaust manifold stud.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the oil level indicator tube bracket nut to the exhaust manifold stud.

    Tighten:  Tighten the oil level indicator tube nut to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  5. Install the oil level indicator to the oil level indicator tube.
