Installation Procedure

Important: Install all components of the I/P carrier as one unit.
- Position the I/P carrier (1) in the vehicle.
- Install the I/P carrier top bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the I/P carrier side bolts, the left side is shown, the right is similar. Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the I/P center support bracket bolt. Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the I/P center support bracket bezel (1).
- Install the cross car duct.
- Install the nuts (4) and screw (3) to fasten the I/P assembly (2) to the IP carrier support (1). Tighten the screws and nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Connect the following electrical components:
- The left side courtesy lamp
- The body wiring harness junction block to the bracket
- The fuse block to the bracket
- The automatic transfer case module (1), if equipped with 4-wheel drive
- Connect the parking brake release handle to the I/P assembly. Refer to PARK BRAKE RELEASE HANDLE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
- Connect the following electrical components as necessary to the I/P assembly:
- The I/P cluster lead. Clip the component to the I/P assembly.
- The I/P wiring harness junction block
- The right side courtesy lamp
- The remote control door lock receiver, if equipped with remote keyless entry
- Install the I/P upper brackets.
- Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket and tighten the screws until the screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
- Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket.
- Tighten the I/P upper bracket retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connection to the right side accessory switch.
- Snap-in the right side accessory switch housing.
- Install the HVAC control assembly. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
- Install the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT .
- Install the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
- Connect the electrical connections and snap-in the left side accessory switch bracket (1).
- Connect the body control module (BCM) (1) to the bracket.
- Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
- Install the knee bolster deflector. Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the passenger side air bag module. Refer to PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG DISABLE SWITCH .
- Install the lower I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Lower .
- Install the driver side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Non-Luxury) or Knee Bolster Replacement (Luxury) .
- Install the data link connector (DLC) (1) to the I/P assembly. Tighten the nuts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
- Install the following components, depending on how the vehicle is equipped:
- The I/P cupholder. Refer to Cupholder Replacement (Except Pro) or Cupholder Replacement (Pro) .
- The floor console extension. Refer to Console Replacement (Luxury Console) , Console Replacement (Base Console) or Console Replacement (Pro) .
- Connect the electrical connector (1) to the ambient light sensor on the underside of the top cover.
- Install the top cover.
- Connect the negative battery cables to the battery.
