Valve Rocker Arm, Shaft & PUSHROD: Installation

  1. Lubricate top of valves, valve bridge stem, valve bridge, and valve bridge pins with clean engine oil. Install valve bridge pins. Install valve bridges. Lubricate valve lifter end of pushrod with clean engine oil.
  2. Install pushrods. To ensure pushrod is properly installed, gently pull up on pushrod. You should feel resistance from pushrod trying to lift valve lifter. Lubricate rocker arm shaft bolt threads, tops of push rods, rocker arms and rocker arm shaft with clean engine oil during installation.
  3. Install rocker arm shaft assembly to cylinder head. Evenly tighten rocker arm shaft bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (41 N.m). Adjust valve clearance. Install lower valve rocker arm cover.
