Engine Flywheel Housing: Installation

  1. Install 2 O-rings in engine flywheel housing. Apply a 1/8" (2 mm) wide bead of Sealant (GM 97720043) to engine rear cover sealing surfaces.
  2. Install a new gasket to oil filter adapter for coolant duct. Install coolant duct to flywheel housing gasket on coolant duct. Install coolant duct to flywheel housing. Loosely install coolant duct to flywheel housing nuts. Install engine flywheel housing to engine block.
  3. Install engine flywheel housing bolts. Install coolant duct to oil filter adapter assembly bolts.
  4. Install NEW gasket to turbocharger oil return pipe. Install turbocharger oil return pipe to engine flywheel housing nuts. Install upper oil pan. See OIL PAN . Install crankshaft rear oil seal. See REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL .
  5. Install flywheel, transmission, starter, and NEW oil filter. Tighten oil filter after contact 1-1 1/4 turns. Lower vehicle. Fill engine coolant.
