Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Route the wiring through the steering wheel.
  2. Align the mark on the steering wheel with the mark on the shaft.
  3. Install the steering wheel.
    CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  4. Install the steering wheel retaining nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the steering wheel retaining nut to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

  5. Install the mass damper.
  6. Install the mass damper retaining screw.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the mass damper retaining screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

  7. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (DRIVER-SIDE) .
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
