Removal Procedure

The optional oil cooler is either an integral part of the radiator or a separate unit placed in front of the radiator. The cooler lines and hoses are serviceable.

Disengage the plastic caps from the quick connect fittings. Pull the caps back along the pipe.
Hold one leg of the retaining clip.
Using a small pick-type tool or bent screwdriver, gently pry the other end of the retaining clip from the quick connect fitting.
Rotate the retaining clip out of the quick connect fitting. Remove the retaining clip completely.

Discard the OLD retaining clip.
If equipped with a 6.0L engine, perform the following:
1. 6.1. Open the oil cooler hose clip located on the lower fan shroud.
2. 6.2. Remove the oil cooler hoses from the clip.
3. 6.3. Gently, pull the oil cooler pipe fittings straight out from the radiator quick connect fittings.
4. 6.4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

If equipped with a 8.1L engine, perform the following:
1. 7.1. Remove the oil cooler hoses from the clip.
2. 7.2. Gently, pull the oil cooler pipe fittings straight out from the radiator quick connect fittings.
3. 7.3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

If equipped, remove the engine shield bolts.
Remove the engine shield.

If equipped with the a 6.0L engine, perform the following:
1. 10.1. Remove the oil cooler hose bracket bolt (1).
2. 10.2. Remove the oil cooler hose adapter bolts (2).
3. 10.3. Remove the oil cooler hose assembly and gasket. Discard the gasket.
4. 10.4. Inspect the fittings, connectors and cooler hoses for damage or distortion.

If equipped with a 8.1L engine, perform the following:
1. 11.1. Remove the oil cooler hose bracket bolt.
2. 11.2. Disconnect the quick connect fittings (1) at the engine.
3. 11.3. Remove the oil cooler hose assembly. Discard the gasket.
4. 11.4. Inspect the fittings, connectors and cooler hoses for damage or distortion.
