Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Align the marks made during the removal procedure on the steering shaft and the steering wheel.
  2. Fig 1: Steering Wheel-To-Shaft Nut

  3. Install the steering wheel onto the steering shaft.
  4. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the steering wheel nut to the steering shaft.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 40 N.m (29 lb ft).

  6. Install the horn switch. Refer to Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
  7. Install the inflator module. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (DRIVER-SIDE) in SIR.
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM in SIR.
