Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the multifunction turn signal/hazard switch to the steering column.
  2. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the screws retaining the multifunction switch to the steering column.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  4. Connect the park position switch electrical connection.
  5. Install the wire harness straps to the steering column wire harness (1).

  7. Install the gray and black wiring harness connectors (1) to the column bulkhead connector.
  8. Connect the automatic transmission shift lock control electrical connector.

  10. Install the steering column bulkhead connector to the vehicle wire harness.

    Tighten:  Tighten the center screw to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  11. Install the wire straps on the steering column wire harness.
  12. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  13. Tighten the steering column bracket nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  14. Install the knee bolster. Refer to KNEE BOLSTER REPLACEMENT (NON-LUXURY) or KNEE BOLSTER REPLACEMENT (LUXURY) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  15. Enable the SIR system. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM in SIR.
