Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: When installing a new lock cylinder, apply GM P/N 12345120 (Canadian P/N 726548) lubricant, or a similar lubricant to the inside of the lock case and the cylinder keyway.
  1. Install the door lock cylinder. Refer to LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - DOOR .
  2. Install the actuator cable.
  3. Connect the electrical connector if required.
  4. Install the handle assembly.
  5. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  6. Install the outside handle mounting nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  8. Connect the lock cylinder rod to the rod clip.
  9. Install the water deflector, as necessary. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement .
  10. Install the trim panel, as necessary. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door .
