Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora and 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the IP retainer. Refer to IP Retainer Replacement  .
  4. Remove the data link connector fasteners.
  5. Remove the passenger inflator module. Refer to AIR BAG MODULES .
  6. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connectors.
  7. Remove the shift/park lock cable from the ignition switch.
  8. Disconnect the body to IP electrical connector (1) located at the upper right outside corner of the IP carrier.

  9. Remove the HVAC aspirator tube (5).
  10. Feed the ignition switch wiring (4) through the IP carrier.
  11. Feed the shift/park lock cable (3) through the IP carrier.
  12. Feed the console wiring harness (1) through the IP carrier.
  13. Release the SIR harness (6) retainer from the IP carrier.

  14. Remove the IP carrier fasteners.
  15. Remove the IP carrier from the vehicle.
