Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Install all components of the IP carrier as one unit.
- Position the IP carrier (1) in the vehicle.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
- Install the IP carrier top bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lbs ft).
- Install the IP carrier side bolts, the left side is shown, the right is similar. Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lbs ft).
- Install the IP center support bracket bolt. Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lbs ft).
- Install the IP center support bracket bezel (1).
- Install the cross car duct. Refer to AIR DISTRIBUTION .
- Install the nuts (4) and screw (3) to fasten the IP assembly (2) to the IP carrier support (1). Tighten the screws and nuts to 9 N.m (80 lbs in).
- Connect the following electrical components:
- The left side courtesy lamp.
- The body wiring harness junction block to the bracket.
- The fuse block to the bracket.
- The automatic transfer case module (1), if equipped with 4-wheel drive.
- Connect the parking brake release handle to the IP assembly. Refer to PARK BRAKE ACTUATOR .
- Connect the following electrical components as necessary to the IP assembly:
- The IP cluster lead. Clip the component to the IP assembly.
- The IP wiring harness junction block.
- The right side courtesy lamp.
- The remote control door lock receiver, if equipped with remote keyless entry. Refer to REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER REPLACEMENT .
- Install the IP upper brackets.
- Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket and tighten the screws until the screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
- Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket.
- Tighten the IP upper bracket retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lbs in).
- Connect the electrical connection to the right side accessory switch.
- Snap-in the right side accessory switch housing.
- Install the HVAC control assembly. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY .
- Install the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT .
- Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
- Connect the electrical connections and snap-in the left side accessory switch bracket (1).
- Connect the body control module (BCM) (1) to the bracket. Refer to BODY CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT .
- Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
- Install the knee bolster deflector. Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lbs in).
- Install the passenger side air bag module. Refer to AIR BAG MODULES .
- Install the lower IP trim panel. Refer to IP Trim Panel Replacement - Lower .
- Install the driver side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Non-Luxury) or Knee Bolster Replacement (Luxury) .
- Install the data link connector (DLC) (1) to the IP assembly. Tighten the nuts to 2 N.m (18 lbs in).
- Install the following components, depending on how the vehicle is equipped:
- The IP cupholder. Refer to Cupholder Replacement .
- The floor console extension. Refer to Console Replacement (Base Console) or Console Replacement (Luxury Console) .
- Connect the electrical connector (1) to the ambient light sensor on the underside of the top cover.
- Install the top cover. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (IP) Upper .
- Connect the negative battery cables to the battery.
