Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine cooling fans. Refer to COOLING FAN REPLACEMENT - ELECTRIC (LX5) or COOLING FAN REPLACEMENT - ELECTRIC (L47) .
  2. Remove the oil level indicator and tube. Refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE REPLACEMENT .
  3. Remove the bolts attaching the exhaust manifold heat shield to the left exhaust manifold.
  4. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield from the left exhaust manifold.

  5. Remove the two bolts attaching the left exhaust manifold to the right exhaust manifold crossover.

  6. Remove the left exhaust manifold retaining bolts.
  7. Remove the left exhaust manifold and the gasket from the engine. Do not reuse the gasket.

  8. Remove the exhaust manifold crossover seal from the left exhaust manifold. Do not reuse the seal.
  9. Remove the exhaust manifold flange seal retainer.
  10. Clean and inspect the left exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD CLEANING AND INSPECTION - LEFT .
