Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora and 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:

The internal parts of the oil pump are not serviced separately. If wear or damage is noted, replace the entire pump assembly.

  1. Inspect the housing (1) and the cover (7) for cracks, scoring, casting imperfections, and damaged threads.
  2. Inspect the gerotor gears (5, 6) for chipping, galling or excessive wear.
  3. Inspect the pressure relief valve components (2-4) for embedded particles and/or damage.
