Oil Level Indicator and Tube Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora and 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  It is difficult to mount the engine on an engine stand with the exhaust manifold/crossover pipe in place. When the engine is out of the vehicle, properly support the engine on the floor or bench and remove the exhaust manifold before mounting the engine on an engine stand.

  1. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
  2. Remove the oil level indicator and tube by sliding the tube up through the exhaust manifold.
  3. Remove and discard the O-ring from the oil level indicator tube.
