Tools Required

  1. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
  2. Lift the camshaft cover off the cylinder head evenly.
  3. Rotate the crankshaft in order to place the number one cylinder at TDC using the J 43032.

    CAUTION: The camshaft holding tools must be installed on the camshafts to prevent camshaft rotation. When performing service to the valve train and/or timing components, valve spring pressure can cause the camshafts to rotate unexpectedly and can cause personal injury.
  4. Install the J 42038  onto the ends of the camshaft. Rotate the engine to align the camshafts with the tool using the hex in the camshaft and an open end wrench.

  5. When installed properly, the J 42038  will be fully seated on the camshaft ends with the camshaft flats parallel to the cam cover sealing surface.
