Balance Shaft Installation

Apply lubricant GM P/N US 12345501, Canada 992704, or equivalent to the following areas:
- Balance shaft thrust groove
- Balance shaft journals
- Balance shaft bearing inserts

Using two hands, slide the balance shaft (1) into the engine. Support the balance shaft during installation to prevent any damage to the bushings. The balance shaft bushings are not serviceable.

Install the balance shaft thrust plate.

CAUTION: Refer to in FASTENER NOTICE .
Install the balance shaft thrust plate bolts.
Tighten

Tighten the balance shaft thrust plate bolts to 25 N.m (18 ft lbs)
