Inspection Procedure

Inspect the balance shaft for the following:
- Wear or scoring on the bearing journals (1)
- Wear or scoring to the retainer groove (2)
- Inspect the balance shaft sprocket (3) for the following:
  - Excessive wear or damage
  - Nicks, burrs, or scoring

Inspect the balance shaft retainer (1) for wear or damage.
Inspect the balance shaft bolts (2) for damaged threads.
Repair or replace the balance shaft and/or balance shaft retainer as necessary.
