Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the knee bolster.
  3. Loosen the steering column bracket nuts.
  4. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  5. Disconnect the steering column bulkhead connector from the vehicle harness.

  6. Disconnect the gray and the black connectors (2) of the switch from the column bulkhead connector.
  7. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control electrical connector.

  8. Remove the wire harness straps from the steering column wire harness (1).
  9. Disconnect the park position switch electrical connection.
  10. Remove the multifunction switch retaining screws from the switch.
  11. Remove the multifunction turn signal/hazard switch.
